Sports Injury

What’s sports injury?
Sports injuries are injuries that occur during athletic activities or exercise. They can range from minor to severe and can affect various parts of the body.
Types of Sports Injuries
1. Acute Injuries:
- Sprains: Injuries to ligaments (the tough bands connecting bones in a joint). Commonly occur in the ankle, knee, and wrist.
- Strains: Injuries to muscles or tendons (the fibers that connect muscles to bones). Common areas include the hamstrings and lower back.
- Fractures: Broken bones, which can vary from small cracks to complete breaks.
- Dislocations: When bones are forced out of their normal positions in a joint.
- Contusions: Bruises caused by direct blows or impacts.
2. Overuse Injuries:
- Tendinitis: Inflammation of a tendon, often due to repetitive motion. Commonly affects the elbow (tennis elbow), shoulder, and knee.
- Stress Fractures: Small cracks in the bone due to repetitive stress, often seen in runners and athletes who engage in high-impact sports.
- Shin Splints: Pain along the shin bone (tibia), common in runners and athletes who perform frequent, high-intensity training.
- Bursitis: Inflammation of the bursae (small fluid-filled sacs that cushion bones, tendons, and muscles near joints).
Causes:
- Improper Training: Overtraining, sudden increases in activity intensity or duration, and inadequate warm-ups or cool-downs.
- Poor Technique: Incorrect form during exercises or sports activities.
- Inadequate Equipment: Using improper or ill-fitting gear.
- Environmental Factors: Playing on uneven surfaces or in unsuitable weather conditions.
- Previous Injuries: Past injuries can increase the risk of re-injury.
